What is the Best Yarn Weight for Crochet Beanies
The answer is emphatically DK weight. My favorite yarns in this weight category are Anti-Pilling Everday DK from Premier Yarns and Simply DK from Paintbox Yarns.

What is DK Weight Yarn
The term DK (Double Knitting) refers to the yarn weight. It is considered to be a size 3 or a light to medium weight yarn.
The Craft Yarn Council (CYC) has created a standard weight system for the U.S. It is based on a number system that starts from 0 (the thinnest yarn) and goes up to 7 (the thickest) yarn. The CYC considers DK weight yarn to be light weight or a size 3.

DK weight is extremely popular with crocheters
Because it is a perfect weight for crochet, DK yarn is very popular with crocheters. As we know, crochet stitches can be a bit heavy, particularly in worsted weight (size 4) or heavier yarns. Sometimes, it’s just a little too heavy for sweaters and accessories, although perfect for afghans, throws and other home decor projects. So, the answer to light weight sweaters, shawls, wraps and other accessories just might be DK (size 3) weight yarn.

The Patterns for Hats Collections
